The Free Black Women's Library
presents
You, Me & The Honey Bee
with Bonnie Banks

Come ready to explore our relationship with the honey bee! We’ll learn about the very industrious Apis mellifera or the common honey bee through a brief history of beekeeping in Africa & the Americas as well as life in the hive. Participants will get to safely interact with a nucleus beehive, taste and bottle local honey, and learn how to render and mold raw beeswax.

Bonnie Banks is the lead apiarist at 462 Halsey Community Farm in Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn. She has been a beekeeper for 10 years and a lover of the natural world for a lifetime. Bonnie also owns and operates Honey Puffs Blends, a line of honey-enriched smoking herbs. Bonnie came to beekeeping after being divinely inspired and continues to practice as an act of reverence and ecological commitment.

Space is limited !!
Please do not register for this just to save a spot for yourself and then not show up as this is not fair to our facilitators who donate their time and creativitity to our space.
We appreciate and encourage folks to wear masks while inside The Free Black Women's Library space. We have masks available for thsoe who may need them.
