Our yearly 9/11 Memorial will again be held at the Fire/Police Memorial on the corner of 3rd. & Magnolia in Downtown Leesburg on September 11th. The memorial was painted by local artist Michael Davis.
September 11th, 2001 was the last time our country truly came together in unity. There is a push in our country to erase history, but 9/11 should never be forgotten!

September 11, 2001 – A Reflection by James Mahaffey
On the morning of 9/11, I made my way to Ground Zero to help with search and rescue. What I saw there will never leave me—the smoke, the smell, the silence between sirens. Amid the devastation, strangers came together with one purpose. We didn’t know each other’s names, but we worked side by side, driven by the same instinct: to help. I’ll never forget the camaraderie, the resilience, and the quiet strength of those around me. In the worst of times, I witnessed the best in people—and that’s what I carry with me to this day.
We are honored to have Stephanie Stone singing our National Anthem! Ms. Stone is a professional singer having sung our National Anthem for the past 4 years for the Tampa Bay Rays, as well as Orlando City Soccer and the Orlando Solar Bears.
There will be a moment of silence as Jerry Sonnier performs TAPS on his bugle, followed by an opening prayer offered by Kevin Baker.
