The NHS is under threat from Reform UK, who are committed to increased use of Private Health Insurance and management by the private sector.

The Labour Government’s flagship 10 Year plan will not reverse the years of damage and will see job losses of health professionals and the increased use of the private sector and a resurrection of the disastrous PFI model to fund new buildings.

• • The BMA estimates a £423 billion funding shortfall since 2009/10.
  • The plan offers no significant new investment.
  • The Royal college of Emergency Medicine in 2022 reported an urgent need of 13,000 more beds and tens of thousands of staff. Instead Labou Ministers have issued a notice to cuts NHS trusts instructing them to cut “corporate cost growth by 50%.
  • This will see a massive reduction in staffing- estimates vary from 50,000- 150,000 posts.[2]
• Privatisation and Outsourcing:
• • Increased reliance on private providers for elective operations, diverting NHS funds and staff.
  • Moves toward a £200bn healthcare market for corporate interests.
• Technology Over People:
• • Heavy focus on AI, digital tools, and the NHS App, promoted as a substitute for staff.
• Delays and Deferrals:
• • Most “transformations” postponed until after 2029, with major shifts to community care not planned until 2035. There is no clear delivery plan.
• Neglect of Social Care:
• • No proposals to fix or fund social care, despite it being critical to NHS recovery.
