The Spiritual Life Society and Main Street Yoga Presents
Traditional Yoga/Meditation Teacher Training
With Larry Terkel
www.AUM.org/ymtt
Welcome to our Traditional Yoga Teacher Training at the Spiritual Life Society. You have made a great choice to study with one of America’s most experienced yoga and meditation teachers. Larry’s YouTube videos on yoga and meditation have been viewed over 500,000 times. His bestselling book "Small Change" has been published around the world. He was a personal student of BKS Iyengar (the world's most famous yoga teacher of his generation) for 20 years and lived with Swami Satchidananda (the Woodstock Guru) in Sri Lanka in 1971. Larry founded the Spiritual Life Society in 1978 and has been teaching Yoga and meditation for over 50 years. Larry is also a national record holder in Senior Olympic swimming and is a professor of world religions at Kent State University. Larry is certified as an E-RYT-500 and YACAP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Program) provider.

The program is designed to meet one weekend per month over a 10-month period. It will usually start on the 3rd Saturday of each month except adjustments will be made for holidays and vacations. Larry does not believe in a crammed 3–4-month program with very little remembered. He wants you to have the time to live and practice the teachings over an extended period before he believes someone is ready to teach. After all, the best teachers by example, sharing their practice and knowledge, not simply following a prescribed script.

We will meet from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday, allowing those from out of town to get a head start heading home. If you are from out of town, we can make overnight arrangements in our facility at no extra cost. Each weekend is divided into four modules allowing for many flexible opportunities. Students working towards certification can start at any time and work your way through the modules. The other extreme would be to take one module per month and just make it a longer program. It also allows students who are not interested in teaching but deepening their understanding and practice to choose modules of interest. Finally, certified teachers interested in refreshing their teachings can likewise choose modules or weekends of interest and receive continuing education credits. The basic schedule is as follows:

Module 1: Saturdays 9am -1pm: Professional Essentials/Teaching Methodology continuing into Techniques, Training and Practice of what was discussed
Module 2: Saturdays 1 - 5pm: Anatomy and Physiology followed by additional training and practice which incorporates the anatomy discussed.
Module 3: Sundays 9am – 12:30pm: Teachings on meditation including a meditation practice.
Module 4: Sundays 12:30 – 4pm: Yoga Humanities/Philosophy followed by additional training and practice often including trainees doing some of the teaching.

This schedule provides 40 of the 50 hours of Professional Essentials/Teaching Methodology required. 20 of the 30 hours of Anatomy and Physiology required. 20 of the 30 hours of Yoga Humanities/Philosophy required. And 80 of the 75 hours of Techniques, Training and Practice required. This far exceeds the Yoga Alliance requirement that at least 65 hours must be spent with your lead trainer. There will be readings and assignments to round out the anatomy and philosophy, and workshops or outside class opportunities to enhance the professional essentials.
Schedule of Topics to be Covered Each Month (Dates/Topics Not Cast in Stone)
Note: You can start any month and follow through the program to completion
Current certified teachers can join any weekend or module to earn Yoga Alliance CE credits
