BIO:
Introducing your yoga teacher, Kate Gerritsen...
Kate is a yoga teacher based on Wadawurrung Country in Ballarat, Victoria.
Kate began practicing yoga in 1998, regular practice eventually inspired her to undertake teacher training from 2020 onwards.
She is deeply interested in both the physical and emotional benefits of yoga.
How might we practice yoga to energise, calm, heal and to open ourselves to new possibilities? How can we stay curious about ourselves in this practice?
Kate promotes regular somatic practices (even a few minutes a day!) which will allow us to experience improved flexibility and mobility, nervous system regulation and greater self-awareness.
She gently guides asana using a trauma-informed approach and encourages practice in a way that is kind, compassionate and appropriate for each student – taking into account energy levels, injuries, emotions and current life circumstances.
Kate has taught yoga before at Barkly Square for our friends at Ballarat East Neighbourhood House. We are thrilled to have her running our sessions!
