10 hours self-study
This 40-hour training is designed for yoga teachers to deepen their skills in restorative yoga for midlife women. The program focuses on re-framing internalized societal expectations, supporting peri-, menopause, and post-menopause symptoms, trauma-aware practices, nervous system healing, empowerment, and self-esteem. Participants will practice planning and delivering restorative classes that promote resilience, vitality, and self-care. The course is open to women who have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate as a minimum.
The course is led by Senior Yoga Teacher and Trainer Pro, Annapurna Helen Wilson, of Womankind Yoga. Annapurna has been specialising in teaching yoga to women in all stages of life for the last 12 years, specialising in yoga for empowerment, Menopause Yoga, Restorative Yoga and her own unique style of Holistic Hatha Yoga.
Learning Objectives
Participants will learn to facilitate restorative yoga and mind-body practices that support peri-, menopause, and post-menopause symptoms. They will apply techniques to empower women, raise self-esteem, and enhance emotional resilience, while helping women re-frame damaging societal expectations and internalized pressures. Participants will deliver trauma-aware, nervous system–healing restorative practices, plan and deliver restorative yoga classes for midlife women, and complete case studies applying theory to real-world teaching scenarios.
Weekend 1 – 15 Hours (Saturday & Sunday, 7.5 hours/day)
On the first Saturday, the training begins with restorative yoga foundations, introducing the core principles and providing guided experiential restorative practices. This is followed by practices specifically designed for midlife transitions, including breathwork and gentle movement to support hormonal balance and soothe peri-, menopause, and post-menopause symptoms. The day concludes with empowerment and self-development exercises, including journaling, reflection, and group empowerment practices. Breaks are incorporated throughout the day.
The first Sunday focuses on re-framing damaging expectations. Participants explore the internalized pressures that arise from societal conditioning and practice reclaiming self-care, rest, and personal authority. This leads into trauma awareness and nervous system healing, with techniques for nervous system regulation and trauma-aware restorative practices. The day ends with integration and reflection, including guided meditation, group discussion, and exercises to prepare for self-study and case studies.
Weekend 2 – 15 Hours (Saturday & Sunday, 7.5 hours/day)
The second Saturday is dedicated to class planning and delivery practice. Participants focus on planning restorative sessions tailored for midlife women, ensuring practices are trauma-aware and supportive of the nervous system. This is followed by hands-on practice delivering restorative classes with peer feedback and reflective discussion.
The second Sunday focuses on advanced integration and reflection, consolidating mindfulness, empowerment, and nervous system practices. Participants then deliver final restorative classes, receive peer and mentor feedback, and reflect on their learning. Breaks are included throughout both days.
Self-Study & Case Studies (10 Hours)
Between and after the weekends, participants complete ten hours of self-study. This includes reading on midlife physiology, menopause, and trauma-aware approaches, along with reflective journaling on self-care, empowerment, and teaching philosophy. Participants also complete three case studies applying learning to real-world scenarios. These may include working with a midlife client experiencing sleep disruption or hot-flashes, a client needing empowerment and self-esteem support, or planning a trauma-sensitive restorative class. Case study deliverables include written plans and reflections, with the option to include short video demonstrations of restorative practices.
Key Outcomes
Upon completion, participants will be able to lead restorative yoga and mind-body practices for midlife women, apply trauma-aware and nervous system–healing practices, use empowerment tools to boost self-esteem and resilience, support women in re-framing damaging societal expectations, plan and deliver restorative classes confidently, and demonstrate competence through case study application.
