Live geïmproviseerde muziek en een yin yogales verstrengelen rond mystieke poëzie voor een diepe reis naar binnen. De magie van de yogaconcerten strijkt deze zomer neer in het Amstelpark. Op deze zondagmiddag zal zangeres en klarinettist Leah Uijterlinde improvisaties naar de mat brengen, tussen de kwebbelende vogeltjes, scharrelende eekhoorns en ronkende vliegtuigen. André Meeusen bouwt zijn yogales op rond een gedicht.

Multi-instrumentalist Leah Uijterlinde is het bruisende talent dat deze reeks afsluit. Haar spel is bezield door een bonte verzameling muzikale tradities: van westerse jazz via oosterse makam tot sjamanistische medicijnliederen. De afgelopen jaren heeft ze met haar bands Madhara en The Magic Mumble Jumble de grote podia en festivals in Nederland en Duitsland veroverd, en ging ze op tournee met de legendarische Turkse zangeres Selda Bağcan. Intussen studeerde ze ook nog cum laude af als jazzvocalist en klarinettist. Met haar intuïtieve spel creëert ze een serene bedding voor een intiem yogaconcert.
Wat is een yogaconcert?
Een concert, poëzievoordracht en yin yogales in één – dat is de formule van de yogaconcerten. De kalme, meditatieve en tegelijk intense houdingen van yin yoga geven de mogelijkheid om dieper in het bewustzijn te zakken, voorbij de denkpatronen van de geest. Op de yogamat verweven fysieke sensaties zich met de muzikale improvisaties. Gedachten bedaren, waardoor ruimte ontstaat voor een open ontmoeting: de live geïmproviseerde muziek, de yogahoudingen en mystieke poëzie bundelen samen, werken op elkaar in en versterken elkaar voor een reis naar binnen.
Praktische info
Het concert vindt plaats op donatiebasis, met een minimum van 10 euro.
Op het Stadshout Paviljoen staat een overdekte piano, voor de yogamatjes is ruimte onder de blote hemel, op een stenen ondergrond. Als regen voorspeld wordt, zal twee uur van tevoren een mailbericht worden verstuurd of het yogaconcert wel of niet doorgaat (tickets krijg je terug of kun je gebruiken voor een andere keer). Een afgelasting zal ook op de website en op Facebook vermeld worden.
Neem een matje mee, en eventueel een waterflesje en props zoals een zitkussentje, blok en/of een dekentje. De instructies en poëzie zijn tweetalig. Vanaf 14:15 uur ben je welkom om een plaatsje te zoeken. Er zijn gratis parkeerplaatsen aan de autoweg/fietsbaan langs het park.

This Sunday afternoon, singer and multi-instrumentalist Leah Uijterlinde brings her improvisations to the mat, playing between the chattering birds, hopping squirrels, and grumbling aeroplanes. André Meeusen builds his yoga class around a poem.

Multi-instrumentalist Leah Uijterlinde is the vibrant talent closing this series. Her playing is inspired by a colorful collection of musical traditions: from Western jazz and Eastern makam to shamanic medicine songs. In recent years, she conquered major stages and festivals across the Netherlands and Germany with her bands Madhara and The Magic Mumble Jumble, and toured with the legendary Turkish singer Selda Bağcan. In the midst of all this, she also graduated cum laude as jazz vocalist and clarinetist. With her intuitive playing, she creates a serene foundation for an intimate yoga concert.
What is a yoga concert?
A concert, poetry performance, and a yin yoga class in one. This is the formula of the yoga concerts. The calm, meditative but intense postures of yin yoga allow you to sink deeper into consciousness, beyond the patterns of the mind. On the yogamat, physical sensations weave together with musical improvisations. The mind becomes quieter, opening space to meet the music and poetry in the heart. In this way, the live improvised music, yoga postures, and mystical poetry intertwine, affect, and strengthen each other for a journey inside.
Practical info
The yoga concert takes place on a donation basis, with a minimum of 10 euros.
The 'Stadshout Paviljoen' shelters a piano, the yoga mats find space on a stone surface, under the open sky. If rain is forecasted, two hours in advance an email will be sent whether the yoga concert will take place (tickets can be refunded or exchanged for another yoga concert). A cancellation will be announced on the website and Facebook as well.
Bring your mat, and if you like some props like a pillow, block and/or a blanket. Instructions and poetry will be bilingual. From 14:15 onwards you are welcome to find your spot. Free parking places for cars are available along the street/bike road at the side of the park.
