yin yoga and meditation w/fitz-gerald

join us at Self Place meditation and wellness center in sunrise florida every wednesday for a guided yin yoga and meditation that will help you to obtain a deeper connection with your body - and practice control of one's mind and thoughts.

in yin yoga, the poses are held for longer periods - compared to other forms of yoga practices - usually between 3 - 5 minutes. this prolonged holding of the postures allow the yogi student to to target the connective tissues (such as the ligaments) rather than focusing on the muscles; this is a surrender, as active engaging of the muscles is not needed in this flow. yin yoga is a meditative flow, and students will be guided to rely on the breathe and proper breathing techniques in other to surrender to the postures and obtain the beautiful benefits of this practice.

at the end of the yin flow, you will be guided through meditation, oftentimes using sound therapy, to help you release any lingering unwanted heavy energy and invite further healing from the yin flow to take place.

what to bring:

• drinking water
• bring your own yoga mat -or purchase one on site to take home.
• dress in yoga attire
• try not to consume any "heavy" (lengthy or requiring lots of energy for the body to process) food
