In Yin Yoga, the extended, gentle holds are especially beneficial for the fascia, the body's web of connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and organs. By holding poses for several minutes, Yin Yoga gradually stretches and compresses the fascia, promoting hydration and elasticity in this often-neglected tissue. Fascia can become tight or “stuck” due to stress, repetitive movement, or lack of mobility, which can limit range of motion and even cause discomfort. Yin Yoga's slow, intentional approach helps release these adhesions, enhancing overall flexibility and supporting greater freedom of movement. Regular practice may lead to reduced joint stiffness, improved posture, and a deeper sense of lightness and ease within the body. This deep focus on fascia also allows energy (or "qi") to flow more freely, promoting a balanced and revitalized state of well-being.
In Traditional Oriental Medicine, the wind element is linked to the liver, fostering vitality and fluidity. Yet, when it grows excessive, it may unsettle us, bringing restlessness or a wandering mind. As autumn’s gentle breezes usher in the season, we will practice a series of qigong movements to balance this dynamic energy—calming its intensity, anchoring our foundation, and restoring inner peace.
Ticket options include a standard $15 ticket or pay what you want.
