This walking tour meets at 255 Grand St, New York, NY 10002 (NW corner of Sara D. Roosevelt Park at Chrystie St and Grand St) and will run from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
Join YIVO Learning and Media Center Educator Susannah Trubman on a two-hour walking tour exploring the heart of what was once a major hub for the sensational, international phenomenon known as Yiddish theater. Beginning at the former site of Jacob Adler’s Grand Theater (255 Grand Street, now a part of Sara D. Roosevelt Park) and ending in Union Square, this walking tour will have attendees walk along the former Yiddish Broadway with special attention paid to sites of past theaters and notable performances. Attendees should wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and be prepared to stand for longer periods of time.
