Yellow and Co. presents Emily F***ing Dickinson

Poet. Recluse. Icon. This is not your English teacher’s Emily Dickinson. Emily F-cking Dickinson: America’s Favorite Recluse is an original solo musical—book, music, lyrics, and performance by Shelley Cooper—a feral, funny, and fiercely musical dive into the mind of a woman who refused to play by anyone’s rules. Featuring a score of original songs inspired by Dickinson’s poetry and spirit, the show is intimate, manic, a little unhinged, and unexpectedly hilarious. Hailed by Stage Takes as a “tour-de-force performance” with a range that is “astonishing,” and by NoHo Arts District as “a riot of music and laughter,” Cooper’s production is part concert, part confession, part rebellion—and one wild night you definitely didn’t read about in class.

Shelley Cooper is a two-time Off-Broadway award-winning solo performer, playwright, composer, and director whose original work has been presented across three continents. She is the creator of four award-winning solo works, earning distinctions including Best One-Woman Show Off-Broadway, Best Biographical Show, Pick of the Fringe at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, and Critics’ Choice for Best Dramatic Actor at the Orlando Fringe Festival. Her work has been featured in The Hollywood Reporter and presented internationally throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. A dedicated artist-scholar, Cooper serves as Associate Professor of Musical Theatre at Drake University. Her original music is available on all major streaming platforms.

General Admission doors open at 6:15, show starts promptly at 7 pm-don't be late.

NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED. Full bar on site for drinks for purchase. No kitchen. Some snacks for purchase. Due to strict requirements from the health department, we are not serving ice for drinks. However, if you want to bring your own ICE, you are welcome to.

Please note that this event is for age 18 and up. 21 and older of course allowed to drink. IDs will be checked.
