Guess What? 2025 is The Year of the Oak!

The Year of the Oak launch party, sponsored by Portland Community College, will be your chance to get sneak previews of our upcoming exhibition collaborations, as well as early-bird access to our first ever museum merch drop! It will also be the launch of our year-long project to collect your input and shape a vision for the future of the museum. The public event will be directly followed by a members wine reception with wines from Replenish exhibition sponsors Utopia Vineyards.

What's the year of the Oak?

Many of the partnerships that we have strengthened or gained during the time we have been sharing Replenish the Root: Six Centuries of Gathering Under the Oaks – an exhibition about our namesake trees – are groups who directly study, care and advocate for Oregon White Oak trees such as those at the Five Oaks site. And, it turns out that a coalition of those wonderful organizations declared 2025 The Year of the Oak!

We couldn’t agree more, as 2025 also marks 5 years as Five Oaks Museum. We are excited to honor oak trees all year long, with efforts that strengthen our roots, expand our reach, and nourish our community.

• For all of 2025 we will be gathering your input to help shape a vision for the future of the museum.
• We will be welcoming back the Guest Curator program for a fourth cycle!
• We will be announcing very special exhibition partnerships with Chachalu and the Wing Luke Museum!
• We will have continued programming connected to Replenish, which will close in November of 2025.
• We will look to the wisdom of oak trees throughout the year, to reflect on what we can learn from those long-lived and generous community members.
