About this Event
YAWANAWA HAPE CIRCLE AND MUSIC FROM THE FOREST
Join us for an unforgettable evening of connection and immersion in the mystical world of the Yawanawa tribe.
Experience the ancient tradition of the Yawanawa Hape Circle, a sacred ceremony that involves the ceremonial use of medicinal plants.
Hape is sacred tobacco snuff, a ceremonial medicine. A mixture of 100% mapacho tobacco and Tsunu (ashes of a special tree in the Amazon jungle).
Hape is traditionally served through Tepi or Kuripi (self-serve), made from bamboo or an animal bone. It is an extremely powerful medicine for cleansing, connection to the spirit realm, and purification of our energetic body.
In Yawanawa culture, you have to follow a strict diet during Hape making - no salt, sugar, oil or sexual intercourse. Tobacco is firstly dried in the direct sun, then crashes into the powder and finally mixed with Tsunu. This process is all done with deep intention and prayer.
It is advisable to fast (water only) 4 hours before the ceremony, and avoid drinking alcohol, junk food and too sugary/salty food.
Please bring a water bottle.
All tickets are non-refundable.
