Join us for one of our most meaningful Yap Sessions yet — an afternoon centered around creativity, culture, femininity, and sisterhood.

Waist beads have been worn across many African cultures for generations as symbols of womanhood, protection, self-expression, celebration, spirituality, sensuality, fertility, healing, and personal growth. Different colors and styles can hold different meanings, while for many women they simply become a beautiful and intimate reminder to honor and reconnect with themselves.

At this event you'll create your own custom waist beads using a wide variety of colors, textures, charms, and materials inspired by traditions from across the African diaspora and beyond.

Some women wear waist beads to celebrate milestones.
Some wear them as reminders of confidence and self-love.
Some use them as body awareness tools or markers of personal transformation.
Some simply wear them because they're beautiful.
