ABUL MOGARD - MARIA W HORN - PÄR THÖRN - DJ SARA PARKMAN
Stockholm based labels XKatedral and Katalog are proud to present an evening of innovative experimental music and poetry. The evening features Italian sound illuminator Abul Mogard, known for his evocative albums and immersive performances, Maria W Horn along with a unique ensemble, presents the live world premiere of her most ambitious album to date - Melting Pillars of Snow. Along with these acts Swedish avant-garde poet and sound artist Per Thörn will present a mind-bending reading blending new and old material. In addition Swedish folk music innovator Sara Parkman will provide an eclectic DJ-set to frame the evening.
Expect a spiraling spectral tapestry moving through the audio range!

Abul Mogard
Working under the alter ego Abul Mogard, Italian musician Guido Zen has created a singular body of work spanning over a decade combining the weight of drone and noise music with a personal sense of harmonic lyrical progression. This evening Abul Mogard will present sounds from his album Quiet Pieces released on his imprint Soft Echoes. While sifting through archived material left idle from earlier projects, a chance encounter with a late uncle’s trove of beloved 78rpm classical and opera records prompted the reworking and completion of what would eventually become the album. Spinning dusty records at 33 and 45rpm, Abul Mogard recombined their enduring spectres with unfinished sketches from his archive. The resulting soundscape blurs distinctions between his memories and those of another, exquisitely short-circuiting the senses with its waking, dream-like lucidity.

Maria W Horn - Melting Pillars of Snow
To celebrate the release of her new album Melting Pillars of Snow on XKatedral, the renowned Swedish composer Maria W Horn will present the live world premiere of the music from the record in collaboration with an unique chamber ensemble. The ensemble consists of two amplified wind instruments operating at the extreme ends of the frequency spectrum - Anna Petrini performs on the Paetzold Contrabass Record and Mattias Hållsten plays the Japanese moth-organ Shō, together they weave intricate choral arrangements that intertwine with Maria W Horn’s heavy-weight modular synthesizer, custom algorithmic synthesis and electronic processing. The ensemble is completed by Horn’s long-time collaborator Mats Erlandsson on electric guitar moving from gentle arpeggiated figures to doom-laden drones and feedback howls.

Pär Thörn
The author, sound artist, poet and fanzine maker Pär Thörn (b. 1977) has been a unique intense uncompromising voice on the Swedish literary scene and in the experimental intermedia underground for well over 20 years. Since his debut in 2002, he has published nearly twenty books and has been translated into among others Danish and French. Thörn has also performed readings and electronic music on stages throughout Sweden, Europe, Mexico and Vietnam.
In the spring of 2027 he will release his new book Jag blev omyndigförklarad av Dag Hammarskjöld i Kongo 1961 published by Kaunitz-Olsson. At Slaktkyrkan Pär Thörn will read new texts, and old.
