xG-Afterwork meets hubraum

Meet Berlin’s telecommunications community and learn what it really takes to successfully go from lab to spin-off to exit.
About this Event

xG-Afterwork

Most networking events promise great conversations. Ours have a track record of producing them: co-founders have met, collaborations have started, and more than one person has found their next job here.

This time we’re at hubraum, Deutsche Telekom’s tech incubator, where the corporate and startup worlds already work side by side. For more than a decade, hubraum has been helping startups test their ideas with Telekom’s technology and infrastructure. If you’re building something that needs a telco to scale, this is a good room to be in.

KEYNOTE
Andreas Umbach: "The Lab Was the Easy Part: Lessons from a Photonics Spin-off"

Andreas did what many researchers attending xG-Afterwork are thinking about: he took technology out of a research institute and built a company around it. As CEO of u²t Photonics, he led the company through growth and its acquisition by Finisar, where he later served as VP and CTO of Finisar Germany. Today he coaches founders on building deep-tech companies. Expect an honest look at what worked, what didn’t, and what he would do differently.
