This course will take place in Room 2F 10 of the Dalhousie Building, Old Hawkhill, Dundee.

This short course examines the war the generals across Europe expected to fight and compare it to the reality of that conflict. We will also consider the nature of trench warfare and the efforts made to try and break that stalemate. Further reading will be suggested, and appropriate artefacts will be used to enhance the presentation.

Tutor: Donald Innes

Donald isa retired Principal Teacher of History and taught WW1 at certificate level for over 35 years. He has also visited the WW1 battlefields of France and Belgium on 25 occasions both leading school trips and on personal visits.
