WV MAW is hosting its first SERVE Program Planning Meeting with Fayette and Raleigh County community partners as part of an ARC-funded planning effort.

Through funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission’s INSPIRE Initiative, with matching support from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, WV MAW is conducting a formal planning and feasibility process for a proposed workforce and recovery-to-work initiative in Fayette and Raleigh County.

Executive Director Peyton Ballard will introduce WV MAW, highlight its existing programs, and present the proposed SERVE initiative (Skills Development, Empowerment, Recovery Support, Vocational Training, and Economic Opportunity).

The proposed SERVE program would focus on providing construction and home repair training to individuals exiting recovery programs, helping create a clear pathway to sustainable employment.

This meeting is designed to:

• Explain the SERVE program concept
• Share the goals of the ARC planning grant
• Outline what a local recovery-to-work ecosystem could look like
• Identify how employers, recovery centers, workforce agencies, and community organizations could partner if the program moves forward

This is not a program launch — it is a collaborative planning conversation. We are seeking feedback, partnership interest, and practical insight from those working in workforce development, recovery support, economic development, and community services.
