Presented by West Australian OperaWundig wer Wilura in Concert (Wundig and Wilura) is an ancient Noongar story of star-crossed lovers, who break the bounds of lore and custom, and have their souls forever banished to Mount Brown (Wongborel) and Mount Bakewell (Walwalling) in York, Western Australia.
Family and connection to country, obligation and rebellion, adoration and betrayal, love and war. In the face of catastrophic consequences, how far would you go for love?
Wundig wer Wilura in Concert, is a critically acclaimed Noongar opera by award-winning songwriters and storytellers Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse and commissioned by West Australian Opera.
Having premiered in February 2024 with the support of Principal Partner Wesfarmers Arts, as a part of Perth Festival, this iconic production was also performed in concert version as part of York Festival 2024.
