About this Event

This two hour workshop will be led by The Craft House’s creative writing tutor, Alyson Faye.*

It is suitable for beginners and those with more writing experience who wish to move their fiction to another level and begin submitting to markets.

During the workshop we will look at tips on writing marketable short stories, their structure, following the Witch’s Hat pattern, and discuss developing characters, writing different points of view, and how to deliver a strong ending.

Alyson will provide worksheets to take away, top tips on self-editing, common writing errors to avoid, and finally how to format your work for that professional finish.

Finally, we will look at where and how you can most effectively submit your story, a selection of the non-paying/paying markets/websites/e-zines and blogs which publish fiction and how to deal with and move on from rejection.

The tutor will lead all the exercises and provide the resources. Just bring paper/pen or laptop to write with.

*Alyson is an Amazon best-selling author, and editor, for award winning Brigids Gate Press, and she has run an indie press, Black Angel. She has years of experience of creative writing and tutoring. Her work has won and been short-listed in a number of competitions.
