WRITING WORKSHOP: Feeling the Mind Through the Heart (Online & In Person)

This generative workshop, hosted by Flowerbed and Alfaaz, will help you find the interweavings between mind, heart, and artistic outlet. Together, we will explore the ways in which creative practice can be both an outlet and important tool to educate and encourage discourse about mental health.

We will also be digging into the submission guidelines for the current open call for El Jaguar magazine.

Over 1.5 hours, we will:

• Share and discuss specific examples of how mental health can be represented through artistic mediums, including writing and visual art, and discuss the role they play in our own mental health journeys, and act as a critical medium of solidarity, in an otherwise isolating experience.
• Participate in a walk-through exercise, where we will guide you in how to channel mental health into creative ideas.
• Brainstorm and begin working on creative pieces related to the theme.

We understand that discussing mental health is a deeply vulnerable experience. Flowerbed and Alfaaz aim to create a safe and comfortable space, and while we hold space for you to share with us your experiences and creativity, we place no pressure.

The session will be available online and in-person in Paris.
