Purpose: To clarify the importance of world-building.
Objectives:
To focus world building skills in any writing genre
To differentiate between micro and macro world building
To identify the importance of consistency in the world a writer creates
To clarify the what, when, why, and how the writer’s world works
To encourage deeper thinking about the aspects of his/her/their world
Program description:
This presentation includes a PowerPoint to highlight the objectives listed above and answers the question: Why is world-building important? It will allow authors, whether novice or published in any genre, to reflect on how that world vision transfers into the written word. Aspects of world-building as well as the importance of dialogue to reveal the writer’s world are described. Discussion and Q & A is encouraged. A world building handout is available to participants.
