Join us on a six-week journey this fall as we delve into the creative tension between being and becoming during life’s transitions.
About this Event

We experience many transitions during our lifetime. Some we welcome and others we dread, or never anticipated. One thing is certain—transitions require us to let go and create space for something new.

“I promise you there is a blessing in the leaving, in the dust shed from your shoes as you walk toward home – not the one that you left but the one that waits ahead, the one that already reaches out for you in welcome, in gladness for the gifts that none but you could bring.”—Jan Richardson.

Join us this fall for another six-week journey as we delve into the creative tension between being and becoming during life’s transitions. We will use writing, poetry, listening, and sharing to explore the central questions that life transitions offer us: What do I hope for? What do I dream of? What am I afraid of? What must I let go of?

Major life transitions can be challenging—starting a new job or career, retirement, having a child, marriage, divorce, moving, or buying a new home. Whether you are anticipating transition, are in the midst of change, or are settling in to something new, joining this circle with others who are experiencing similar transitions allows you to embrace both the gifts and challenges of standing at life’s crossroads. Take this time to explore who you are and who you will become in the face of something new.

This writing circle will be facilitated by Mary Kendrick Moore, certifified facilitator for Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville. Open to anyone who identifies as a woman. Class size limited to 10. Register early. Event will be held in the Library at the Church, which is upstairs; an elevator is available.

[Note: This class was so successful in the spring that we are offering it again in the fall—same theme, different content.]

“Transitions are teachers, and yet look how much energy we spend struggling to avoid this difficult dance. Writing during a transition is the bridge that helps you get from the known to the unknown. It is the high-intensity filament that lights your way across the abyss and over to the other side.”—Nancy Sloan Aronie
