Writers Bloc and The Ebell present Football Legend Colin Kaepernick
About this Event
The Perilous Fight explores the life and experiences of Colin Kaepernick, from his childhood in Turlock, California, through his rise to becoming an NFL quarterback and Super Bowl competitor. Drawing on his personal story, Kaepernick reflects on identity, race, family, athletics, and the experiences that shaped his worldview.
The book examines the events leading to Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the national anthem on September 1, 2016, and the national conversation that followed. It also explores the influences that informed his perspective, including the writings of Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Huey P. Newton, and Angela Davis, as well as his views on social justice, policing, and civic engagement.
The Perilous Fight offers Kaepernick's firsthand account of one of the most widely discussed moments in modern sports history and considers its lasting impact on athletics, public discourse, and American culture.
