Have fun and take a few relaxing few hours learning to construct strong, colourful, memory provoking fabric pots. Make a stunning gift to be proud of in local artist/designer, Wendy Gray’s workshop or treat yourself too.This craft offers infinite possibilities. You can make broad based bowls for fruit, plant holders and more ambitious structures; take a lead fromWendy’s own towering designs. You might not have time to finish your design in class but will leave with the know-how to complete it at home. Then you can move on to more ambitious vessels.
Inspirational Tutor
Wendy developed her fabric pots from her love of travel. She explored various cultures, their colours and textiles whilst living overseas for 6 years. In that time, she also gathered a huge collection of fabrics, each provoking memories of trips and friends she travelled with.
Make Memories
Wendy encourages you to learn how to coil and weave your memories into your pots. Bring along fabrics with meaning and maybe share those memories with class mates over a cuppa whilst weaving. It could be a memory of a loved one, childhood, special event or even your favourite pair of old ripped jeans you can’t bear to part with. By binding your materials with coloured threads you can creatively complement your fabric choices.
What’s included
We provide rope, thread, scissors, needles and some fabric to get you started. But we also encourage you to bring pieces of fabric and/or items of clothing from home to personalise your pot and supplement Wendy’s stash.
We provide light refreshments throughout the day. There’s also a break for lunch to explore the lovely cafés of Ilkley. Or if you wish, you are welcome to bring something back to the workshop.
Each participant also receives a 10% off voucher to spend online.
