Worm Together! Worm music in the Black Box
About this Event
What do earthworms sound like and what can we learn from them? Come hear the answer on 13th June in the Black Box! This 30 minute long work of experimental music is a collaboration between composer Zack Di Lello and scientists Dr Ella Browning and Dr Cecilia Dahlsjö. Based on Ella and Cecilia’s work studying the links between soil health and soil acoustics, Zack composed a piece of music that uses underground soil acoustic data mixed with live performance to bring audiences into the murky, mysterious world of the underground. Worms and their culture abound and wriggle! The piece will be preceded by a recorded interview with the scientists behind the research.
There will be two performances on Saturday 13th June 2026, 16:00 and 17:30, come to whichever one works best for you!
The Black Box is located in the basement of the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities. Enter the building from either side and ask reception to point you in the right direction, or follow the stairs all the way down and make your way behind the bar and around the corner.
