Playful Experiences at the whaling museum
Whales Today
Have you climbed into our blue whale heart model yet? If not, what are you waiting for! Our blue whale heart can fit explorers of all ages. Of course, the fun doesn't stop there in our Whales Today exhibition. Our whale anatomy matching game is always fun to explore and then who can resist sticking out their tongue alongside our North Atlantic Right Whale model. Can you say "ahhh"?
Wider World & Scrimshaw
Our newest exhibition, Wider World & Scrimshaw, features several hands-on areas of exploration - including touching different materials and carving techniques, creating your own hiapo pattern, and sharing your thoughts about the exhibition on our feedback station.
Lagoda
Let your imagination set sail on our 1/2 scale ship model of the Lagoda. Whether you are pretending to be a whaler and shout "there she blows!" or you imagine yourself as Kate Winslet or Leonardo Dicaprio on the Titantic - who are we to judge? After you finish exploring the ship, make sure to play our A Whaling Voyage Around the World digital game and lead your crew in the hopes of being successful during a whale hunt.
Captain Paul Cuffe
The best known image of Paul Cuffe is a silhouette, a type of paper portraiture that was popular with Quakers in the 18th and 19th centuries. Now it's your turn to strike a pose! The silhouette booth in our Captain Paul Cuffe exhibition allows you to create your own shadow silhouette.
Whale Scavenger Hunt
There are twelve whales hiding in the museum waiting to be found. Discover as many as you can to earn a prize from our admission desk.
