About this Event

In a digital world dominated by corporate platforms and surveillance, worldbuilding is an act of resistance. Join us for this hands-on workshop and reclaim the web by creating your own sovereign 3D sanctuaries. Whether you build virtual art galleries, personal rooms, intimate tree-lined worlds, or tranquil escapes, these spaces are yours to own, shape, and share with just a link.

Using the browser-based Libi Engine, you will worldbuild at a personal scale. Bring your own assets or start with ready-made models to shape rooms and small landscapes, then decorate and personalise them with lighting, atmosphere, audio, and meaningful details. This is your chance to use 3D as an artistic and architectural medium to express yourself, make a statement, or simply create a calm refuge. Your sanctuary can be deeply political, quietly rebellious, or purely restorative. It can archive memories, challenge the status quo, evoke web nostalgia, or offer a peaceful place to step away from the noise.

No prior experience is required. Just bring curiosity and a laptop (a mouse is recommended). By the end of this 2-hour workshop, you will have a fully accessible, standalone 3D world that can be shared through the web, giving you real digital sovereignty in a tangible, explorable form. You will leave with both a personal creation and the foundational skills to build interactive experiences, games, and more in the future of the 3D web, including possibilities for VR and AR. Above all, you will carry a renewed belief in how creative worldbuilding can drive meaningful change, one sanctuary at a time.

Ameer Ali and Ericka Simon are the workshop hosts and founders of LiBi.

LiBi Engine is a revolutionary browser-based 3D game and worldbuilding engine designed to become a completely decentralised layer of the 3D web. Built from the ground up for openness and accessibility, it empowers creators to build virtual worlds, interactive experiences, and games that run directly in any modern browser with no downloads, no app stores, and no platform gatekeepers, giving users true ownership and sovereignty over their digital creations.

Can We Start Again? is a computational arts festival and exhibition by Phreaking Collective, centred on a technospeculative examination of our digital ecosystem. Born out of distress towards the corporate and surveilled state of computation, the programme combines critical reflection with speculative and optimistic perspectives on digital culture, asking whether we're too far past the tipping point, whether we can correct course, or whether we can start again.
Spanning a physical exhibition, talks, and workshops, the programme explores digital ecology, AI, technological acceleration, and the social impact of emerging technologies — building a space to imagine an alternative future for computation, if we're ever given the chance.
