The Blackstone River Valley, spanning 25 towns across Rhode Island and Massachusetts, played a crucial role in America’s wartime efforts during World War II. While other parts of the country took time to shift into wartime production, the industries of the Blackstone Valley quickly adapted—producing essential materials such as wire for jeeps and communication equipment, wool and cotton for uniforms and blankets, rubber for gas masks, and much more.
