RAISING CANE is a film about history, culture and the environment. Rivercane covered hundreds of thousands of acres across the south, it was a staple of Southeastern native peoples and it protect streambanks from flooding and erosion. Cherishing this magic plant and bringing it back can keep us safe and rejuvenate traditional artisan crafts.
The program includes the film screening, a discussion with native elders and conservationists and a party to celebrate the Center's 15th anniversary.
