Don't touch that dial! The Sterling Playmakers will hold auditions for an on-stage radio show,performing at various locations in April and May. It’s a comedy espionage adventure called World of Spycraft.
For this show, the actors and the sound effects crew will share the stage.
The actors will stand in front of microphones and read their lines from scripts.
The sound effects crew will create the sound effects live, using various props.
Yes, it's just like an old-time radio drama – without the radio! PLUS there will be some blocking as the
actors mime the chase scenes and action scenes!
You may audition for ACTING ROLES, or SOUND EFFECTS CREW, or BOTH (but you can only be cast in one or the other). We're looking for a total of 8 to 10 talented adults to fill these positions. You must be 16 or older to audition.
ACTING ROLES: Some actors play one role, some play multiple roles. The following skills are useful:
• A loud, clear, natural acting voice
• The ability to pantomime action scenes
• Good teamwork
• Optional: Ability to do multiple voices and accents
SOUND EFFECTS: For this show, the sound effects crew must audition. You’ll learn how to use a table full of ordinary objects to create the sound effects. You’ll also “break the fourth wall” and
interact with the actors in some of the scenes. The following skills are useful:
• Comedic timing
• Good facial expressions and mime
• Good teamwork
• Optional: Ability to create some sounds with your voice
The show is about one hour long, and the rehearsal schedule is relatively light.
Auditions for World of Spycraft are March 7-8.
Performances begin April 11-12 (at the stage at Riverside Presbyterian Church, next to Ridgetop Coffee
and Tea), with 4 more performances being scheduled April and early May in various locations in the area.
