World Migratory Bird Day for Chestertown & Washington College
About this Event
In collaboration with the Town of Chestertown and the Center for Environment & Society, we invite you to choose your own bird adventure as we celebrate World Migratory Bird Day 2026!
This year, community members can choose from one of three bird-focused experiences:
- Bird Walk with Dan Small & Kees de Mooy: 7:45am
- FBBO Tour – Group 1: 8:15am
- FBBO Tour – Group 2: 9:45am
Please select one experience per guest. Space is extremely limited, so sign up today!
Meeting Location: Semans-Griswold Environmental Hall (485 S Cross St, Chestertown, MD 21620)
Our bird walk to Chestertown's Wastewater Treatment Plant, led by local bird experts Dan Small and Kees de Mooy, will be a unique opportunity to visit a bird hotspot that is normally inaccessible to the public. For those interested in getting behind the scenes of the Eastern Shore's only bird banding station, chose one of the trips to Foreman's Branch Bird Observatory. Transportation will be provided from the meeting location to the College's River and Field Campus (previously known as Chino Farms), where migratory bird monitoring and research has been conducted since 1998.
Carpooling will be available for the bird walk, and a shuttle will be provided for the FBBO tours.
