About this Event

What if many of today’s social and mental health crises require a closer examination of the systems meant to address them?

Join us this World Mental Health Day for a thought-provoking community Open House exploring the history, impact and human rights concerns surrounding modern psychiatry and coercive mental health practices.

This special event will feature presentations and educational materials from Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), an international mental health watchdog established in 1969 by the Church of Scientology and psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Szasz to investigate and expose abuses in the field of mental health.

Guests will explore documented historical controversies, current human rights issues and the importance of informed consent, patient rights and noncoercive approaches to mental well-being.

The program will also include exhibits and multimedia presentations from the award-winning Psychiatry: An Industry of Death exhibit.
