About Derbáil:
Derbáil is a Dublin-based improviser, clown, sketch writer, storyteller and educator specialising in longform improv, sketch comedy and character-driven immersive storytelling. Her career spans Europe, North America and Australia, with notable performances at The Second City and Comedy Bar Toronto. She is known for bold physicality, sharp wit and emotionally grounded absurdity, blending character-driven comedy with the playful unpredictability of live performance. Derbáil is an alumna of The Second City Conservatory Toronto and École Philippe Gaulier in Paris, and has trained with Upright Citizens Brigade, Improv Theatre Sydney, Bad Dog Theatre, Keith Johnstone and The Stella Adler Studio. She has performed with improv house teams at Improv Theatre Sydney, The Second City and Bad Dog Theatre Company in Toronto, and is a recurring guest performer on RN & Cawls’ (The Backline Podcast) hit show Party Hard, Hard Party (Comedy Bar Toronto), Beer Beer Comedy and more.
She co-wrote, produced and performed in the sold-out show A Sketchy Night at Sketch Fest Toronto with her troupe, Grown & Sexy, and debuted her horror sketch comedy show Thrifted Spirits at Scene + Heard Festival 2025 in Dublin under her production company, Wed&Wild Productions. She has also performed with her horror longform improv troupe Fear Us Please in a sold-out hour-long show at M.Fest Galway. Derbáil is currently performing in the hit comedy play Life Expectancy: A Comedy in Three Trimesters, written and produced by Catherine Butterfield (The Ghost Whisperer, Party of Five,Grimm) and directed by Ron West (Whose Line Is It Anyway?, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Key & Peele, The Second City). Beyond comedy, she has worked in production for Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More and performed in their show Curse of the Mummy in New York, and the Bakehouse production of Visiting Hours at King’s Cross Theatre Sydney. She also made her comedy video debut as James Franco’s wedding planner in The Lonely Island’s satirical Spring Break Anthem. In 2025, Derbáil founded The NIT – New Improv Theatre, where she teaches improv, sketch and physical storytelling, bringing over a decade of international theatre and comedy experience to her classes.
