About this Event
World AIDS Day in West Hollywood
The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. on the Respite Deck of the ARC. The commemoration of World AIDS Day will feature a panel discussion about how living, caregiving and advocacy in the City of West Hollywood during the height of the AIDS epidemic helped those with HIV/AIDS feel a sense of community, and how that community has changed over the years. The event will include audience storytelling and Q&A
The Foundation for the AIDS Monument is the organizer of the World AIDS Day Commemoration, which is co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood.
Following this event, audience members are encouraged to descend the ARC's Grand Staircase to view “Young City at War: Stories from West Hollywood During the AIDS Epidemic, 1984-2024,” an exhibition presented by The Lavender Effect.
"Young City at War" will tell the dramatic and poignant story of West Hollywood’s response from the early days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic to the present, using photography and audio narration from interviews with individuals who played a key role in the “war.”
This is a free event. Validated parking is available in the five-story parking structure in West Hollywood Park.
