Workshop – Folded Pen Fun!

A folded pen is a versatile metal tool used for calligraphy and mark-making. In this workshop, we will experiment with both commercially produced and handmade folded pens using ink and gouache (opaque watercolor) on various papers. Lettering with this tool will be demonstrated, and participants will be urged to try writing letters and words. However, no calligraphy experience is required; this tool lends itself to free-form lettering and mark-making rather than the more formal style of most calligraphic hands. The focus will be on discovering what kinds of marks can be made with the pen. These practice papers can be cropped for collage, artist trading cards, or to make a small box.
All supplies are provided, including a simple, folded pen to keep. Optional: Please bring any folded pens that you have.
Teens/Adult All Levels
$55
