WORKSHOP: Throwing Taller & Thinner with Mark Lester

This workshop is for throwers looking to take their skills on the wheel to the next level. If you are comfortable throwing basic shapes but have trouble getting your pots taller, thinner, and free from that extra clay that likes to hang around the base, then this workshop is designed for you. This workshop will cover:

-How to get back on track when you’ve knocked your piece off center

-The essential 123 Pound Exercize for building your throwing abilities

-Early-stage tricks that will allow you to throw forms with light bottoms

-How to take that extra clay at the base and use it to gain extra height

-Techniques for centering and throwing larger amounts of clay (5 pounds and over), including centering in sections

-How to shape a tall cylinder once you’ve thrown it
