This one day workshop from Anam Cara will give frontline personnel a deeper insight into grief and trauma, the impact on family members going through the loss, how we can support and care for ourselves through the process.
Anam Cara have been running this workshop since 2022 and always books up quickly.
Originally from a teaching background Brid is a qualified Psychotherapist and Supervisor with a special interest in bereavement and loss. Brid holds a Degree in Counselling Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and a Masters in Bereavement Studies from RCSI Dublin and a Postgraduate Certificate in Childhood Bereavement from St. Christopher’s Hospice London. She holds a Certificate in the Sacred Art of Living and Dying. Brid has previously worked as Bereavement Liaison Officer with the HSE in the South East region.
She is presently working as a Bereavement Educator and Researcher helping with bereavement service evaluation, training and information development with various bereavement support organisations across Ireland. She is a contributor to the Irish Hospice Foundation’s workshop series and has co-ordinated the Professional Certificate in Children and Loss with the Royal College of Surgeons and the Irish Hospice Foundation for over 15 years until 2021.
Brid is currently the Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Irish Childhood Bereavement Network and a member of the Steering Committee of the Family Bereavement Network of Europe. She provides training, information talks and online webinars on grief and loss for professionals and bereaved parents throughout Ireland. Brid has accompanied many parents, families and children who are facing death or grieving the loss of their child, parent, partner or sibling over the past 30 years.
David Trickey worked as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the Specialist Trauma and Maltreatment Service at the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, London (AFNCCF). He is the co-director of the UK Trauma Council. He has specialised in working with traumatised children, young people and their families since 2000. He continues to focus on direct clinical work and the supervision of other clinicians working with traumatised children and young people. He regularly offers training and consultation, he presents at international conferences, and he supervises doctoral research. He acts as an expert witness in civil and criminal cases in the area of children and trauma. In all of his roles he draws heavily on the published research literature, to which he has made a minor contribution.
