In the 1860s, a man living quietly in Wagga claimed to be the missing heir to an English baronetcy. He almost pulled it off. The Tichborne Claimant case became an international sensation and it all started right here.
On Friday 12 June, Family History Holidays is bringing guest family historian Brad Argent (from Who Do You Think You Are?, Every Family Has a Secret, DNA Journey) to the Museum of the Riverina for a half-day workshop built around this story and what it reveals about Wagga, the Riverina and colonial Australia. The session includes a First Nations perspective on what was happening on Wiradjuri Country at the same time.
This one's for the local history community — historical societies, museum volunteers, genealogy groups, archivists and anyone who loves regional history and wants a fresh way into it.
What's included: Morning tea and a light lunch featuring Riverina produce and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum.
