Immerse yourself in Accordion Book inspiration in this unique workshop during the 2025 Illustrated Accordion exhibition!
The accordion book is a simple structure with many complex variations. It can be a vehicle for profound artistic expression, narrative and storytelling, and dynamic interdisciplinary classroom learning experiences, whether curriculum-based research, project presentation, or arts-based! This hands-on course is designed to inspire and equip artists or educators with 5+ accordion book structure techniques to add to your visual language, or to integrate with core academic K-12 classroom subjects or expanded art classroom projects.
Our annual exhibition, “The Illustrated Accordion", featuring over 100 accordion books created by artists from across the U.S. and internationally, will be on view in the gallery/classroom during this workshop. Come and learn in a uniquely rich environment bursting with inspiration and examples for techniques, materials, and conceptual ideas!
All materials included.
Topics covered:
• Introduction of basic bookbinding terminology, materials and tools, and applications.
• Construction: Covers and end pages, folding, stitching, gluing, and finishing.
• Classroom applications: tips and methods for incorporating themes and adapting to various classroom settings and student groups.
