Kartul is small, sign up to secure your place: https://forms.gle/Xog4V7wabomV5wLW6 This workshop series invites you to reflect on your personal relationship with money and to place it within a broader social context. In the recent workshops, we discussed the gendered dimension of our everyday financial decisions, feminist ways to discuss and use money, and the intersections between migration, economy and gender.
On the occasion of the Labour Day weekend, we will focus on our relationship with wage labour. The neoliberal society asks to identify with our work and to think of it as a means for self-fulfilment. People working in the cultural sector and civil society are expected to feel particularly passionate about work. However, autonomist feminist thinker Silvia Federici reminds us: “Work in a capitalist system is exploitation and there is no pleasure, pride or creativity in being exploited.”
How do we navigate through such contradictions? What do we need to like our work and when do we allow ourselves to resent it? How do we distinguish between different modalities for work, such as wage labour, unpaid work, creative work and social engagement?
Free entry.
The workshop language is English.
The conversation is facilitated by Airi Triisberg.
The event is supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
