Join artist Hannah Demma for an immersive two-day experience of place-based making along the Upper Mississippi River. This workshop blends canoeing, observation, and material collection with studio-based papermaking.
Participants will spend a day journeying the Mississippi backwaters guided by a local ecologist in partnership with Prairie Island Campground. Expect to gather river water and natural materials, document your unique experience through creative deep-mapping drawing and writing practices, and transform these traces into works of art. Hannah will guide you through the process of pulling prepared paper pulps through multiple styles of molds, with the option to include materials found on the river journey.
No prior experience in paddling or papermaking is required.
