About this Event
Join this workshop led by Francesco Zedde and build a mini-synthesizer with Arduino Nano!
🗓️ Saturday, Apr 11 | 14:00 – 18:00
📍 BlaBlaLab, Eindhoven
EM-Tronic is an open-source DIY project by Brian McNamara, a super simple Arduino powered noise maker. It's easy to build and only requires a few parts. This little synth allows you to control frequency, modulation and the waveform of the sound.
Once the basic version of the instrument will be ready, we’ll learn how to mess up with the code using an AI assistant. You will be able to realize the instrument you dream of!
No prior experience is necessary, you’ll build and take home your own synth by the end of the session!
Program:
- Introduction: what is an Arduino and how it works
- Soldering the hardware
- Understanding the code
- Compiling and playing
- Customizing the code to make your own sound
Participants should bring
- Laptop with Arduino software installed
- Headphones
- USB adapter (if you only have USB-C)
Artist/Tutor Bio:
Francesco Zedde (b. 1993, Italy) is a multimedia artist based in the Netherlands. His curiosity is often driven by societal and metalinguistic questions, and much of his work centers on the idea of the musical event as a social practice, employing DIY methods of organization and creation. This commitment began with playing and organizing concerts and later expanded into diverse creative fields, including hacking, circuit bending, augmented instruments, and interactive installations. In his practice, the use of obsolete and discarded materials holds both rhetorical significance and political weight, serving as a stance of resistance against corporate production and consumerism.
