Something shifted since the first time you connected to a device. You may not have recognised it then, yet that moment marked a threshold. From there, your relationship to time, to distance, to other people began to reorganise Itself. The digital did not simply add tools to your life. It reshaped perception.

Baltan Laboratories and Valerio Arsenio invite you to take part in a collective act of materialisation: turning those digital memories into physical objects, and recursively. Those interface will hold our memory and hold us at a specific point in time.

The workshop invites you to return to that threshold and examine it as material. Digital memories are approached as fragments of a larger transformation, traces of a cultural mutation we experienced before fully understanding its scale.

The project grows out of an ongoing research into how narrative structures shape meaning and perception. Traditional fables once condensed collective knowledge into symbolic forms that helped communities navigate uncertainty. Today, our digital experiences may operate in a similar way. They contain warnings, desires, projections and blind spots embedded in images, interfaces and gestures.

Across two sessions, participants will shape a collective sculptural object from their own memories and visual materials. Through shared viewing and discussion, the group will identify recurring motifs and symbolic patterns, then compress them into a physical form using clay, 3D scanning and printing, blue pigment and chroma key projection. Personal images, videos and stories will merge with the object's surface, making memory and sculpture inseparable, a contemporary storytelling device built by all of us.

The resulting sculpture will be exhibited at Van Abbehuis in Eindhoven as a material marker of a moment that continues to shape us.

We ask that participants join for both workshops, in order to continue their piece of the sculpture.
