Workshop "Effortless Posture: Sitting Tall, Breathing Free"
About this Event
"Effortless Posture: Sitting Tall, Breathing Free" is a 4.5-hour Feldenkrais workshop featuring four Awareness Through Movement classes, each taught by the London Feldenkrais Collective team, with a short lunch break in the middle.
Together, these four sessions explore how we organise ourselves for sitting and breathing: uncovering how small shifts in coordination can help us sit with greater ease, length, and comfort while allowing the breath to move more freely.
How does the relationship between your pelvis, spine, ribs, and head influence the way you sit? In a world where many of us spend long hours at desks, in meetings, travelling, or using screens, this workshop offers an opportunity to rediscover a more natural and effortless upright posture: one that supports both comfort and vitality.
Through gentle, guided movement explorations, you'll investigate how posture emerges from dynamic balance rather than muscular effort. As unnecessary tension softens, breathing can become easier, and sitting upright can feel less like something you do and more like something that happens naturally.
Suitable for everyone, and particularly valuable for those who experience stiffness, discomfort, fatigue, or restricted breathing when sitting. Come as you are, move at your own pace, and leave with practical awareness you can bring to your work, rest, and everyday life.
Mats are provided; please wear comfortable clothing and bring some lunch for yourself (optional).
