Therapists can feel nervous about dreamwork, believing they need special knowledge or skills. It’s easy to forget we are as native to the dream state as we are to waking consciousness. Dreamwork can be quite simple: more about opening to something we already know than exercising special interpretive powers. Although dreamwork has fallen out of favour in contemporary relational gestalt therapy, it has continued to develop and thrive in parallel traditions, many of which were influenced by early West-Coast gestalt therapy. Much modern dreamwork is non-interpretive, embodied, experiential, and collaborative, and therefore an excellent fit for gestalt therapy. Suitable for beginners and more experienced dreamworkers alike, come join in this day of teaching, demonstration, and, above all, practice and play.

Dr Rhys Price-Robertson
Rhys is a psychotherapist in private practice, a member of the GTA teaching faculty, and the Chair of the VAGP. He has published widely on topics such as psychotherapy, mental health, family life, and social theory. He especially enjoys listening for the harmonies and dissonances between Zen, dreamwork, psychedelics, and gestalt therapy. He can be contacted at [email protected].
About the Gestalt Centre
The Gestalt Centre is the heart of Melbourne’s Gestalt community. ConnectGround serves as both a training facility for psychotherapists and a provider of low-cost individual and group therapy for clients. Psychotherapy interns and volunteers gain valuable hands-on experience, enhancing their skills and professionalism through client work.
