About this Event
Overview
The teaching team will examine the nexus between legal needs and mental health needs that affect clients who are involved in the family law system from a multi-disciplinary perspective. This workshop is designed to help participants identify the necessary skills and strategies to navigate working with family systems experiencing conflict and litigation.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the general structure and procedure of Family Court in Minnesota.
- Identify at least three key features that affect clients who are involved in Family Court.
- Delineate among roles and responsibilities of other professionals working with families, and develop strategies for effective and ethical collaboration.
- Develop a plan for best practice when working with families in active litigation.
Meet the Speaker
Carol Hornbeck, MA, MFT is in private practice and has over 25 years of experience. She works with families, couples and individuals across the lifespan. Her practice includes a focus on post-separation high-conflict families. Her cats like her.
Jennifer E. Joseph, J.D., is an attorney by training, but limits her practice to mediation and other alternative dispute resolution services. She works with families as a parenting coordinator, evaluator, special master, and coach, to assist them with resolving parenting time and coparenting issues. Carol’s cats also sort of like her.

*A 15-min break during both the morning and afternoon session
