Join us March 7 – March 9, 2025 for Betsy Fajen’s Clinic “Introduction to Working Equitation”
Working Equitation is the fastest growing equine sport in the United States and is quickly gaining popularity with equestrians for its diversity and inclusion. WE is comprised of four trials: Dressage, Ease of Handling (obstacles), Speed, and Cattle Work. This discipline is open to English and Western riders with horses of all breeds.
For information on the requirements of the different levels and the required dressage tests for each level, please refer to the WE website (https://usawe.org/).
This clinic will focus on the Dressage and Ease of Handling trials and is targeted towards riders who are new to Working Equitation as well as anyone who is already showing WE and continuing to expand on their knowledge and experience. Groups of 2-3 riders will be placed together based on experience with riding level and knowledge of WE. Each session is 1.5 – 2 hours depending on group size.
This clinic will kick off on Friday evening with an optional educational lecture by clinician, Betsy Fajen. This presentation will introduce you to WE and go over the important components of this discipline. Saturday’s focus will be dressage and Sunday will prioritize the EOH portion. We encourage clinic participants to stay and observe other participant’s sessions as this will help you on your own path to knowledge and success.
If you are new to WE, the focus of this clinic will be introducing you to the required dressage test, course patterns & navigation, execution of the EOH obstacles, reviewing rules, as well as insider tips and tricks from experienced competitor, Betsy Fajen. If you are familiar with WE through past clinics and shows, the focus will be building upon those skills needed for the dressage tests, advancing knowledge with course planning and navigation, and finessing EOH obstacle execution.
This clinic welcomes horses of all levels of training. If you would like to attend with a young or green horse with limited exposure, please contact Betsy Fajen to discuss if this is the right clinic for you and your horse.
