Working as a Therapeutic Team: The Importance of Collaboration

This course is designed for physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech & feeding therapists, ABA therapists, and special instructors. It will be a 2-hour learning experience designed for clinicians utilizing team collaboration strategies. The course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and confidence to effectively collaborate as a therapeutic team.

You will be provided with the understanding of why therapeutic team collaboration is important, how to collaborate using evidenced-based practices, and a variety of ways to integrate team collaboration strategies within and outside of session time. Video examples will be utilized to demonstrate real-life experiences.

Learning Objectives:

After completing the course, clinicians will be able to:

• Provide 3 outcomes of effective therapeutic team collaboration
• Describe at least 3 team collaboration approaches
• Describe 5 best practice team collaboration strategies
• Develop a team plan for, incorporating specific strategies for both within and outside of session time

0-5 minutes: Introduction
5-20 minutes: Importance of therapeutic team collaboration
20-35 minutes: Types of team collaboration styles
35-50 minutes: Best practice collaboration strategies
50-65 minutes: Designing specific approaches for the therapeutic team
65-80 minutes: Review common team strains
80-95 minutes: Problem -solving for potential team strains
95-110 minutes: Video examples
110-120 minutes: Q&A

About The Presenter:

Molly Dresner is a Speech Language Pathologist and Feeding Therapist. She is ASHA (American Speech and Hearing Association) Certified and trained in the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Approach to Feeding. She is also the mom of two young boys, Grey & Jack. She received her Masters in Speech Language Pathology from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, and her Bachelors in Speech and Hearing Science from George Washington University. She has worked in Early Intervention as a therapist and an evaluator since 2013. Additionally, she works in private practice with pediatrics. She authored The Speech Teacher’s Handbook, a parent’s guide to speech and language development and the children’s books, You’re So Nice, Baby and We All Fall Down. She specializes in building early language skills, picky eaters, problem feeders, breastfeeding difficulties, social-behavioral struggles, and family training.
