American union members fought—and often sacrificed much—for the rights we all enjoy today: weekends, fair pay, sick leave, lunch breaks, overtime pay, pensions, workman’s comp, and safe working conditions. These didn’t just happen; they were won through hard-fought battles by organized labor.
But today Trump and his billionaire friends are pilfering money from critical services that workers and working families rely on—like SNAP food support and healthcare—and redirecting it to the pockets of billionaires and the funding of Trump's private army of ICE agents.
On Labor Day, Monday September 1st, Charlottesville and thousands of communities across the country will be standing together, in solidarity with local workers and working families, to continue organizing to stop this attempted Trump Administration takeover!
On September 1 we’ll also be kicking off “Labor Month”—a full month of action lifting up local unions and the workers who keep our communities running every day. During Labor Month come out to help us amplify unions’ campaigns, initiatives, and calls to action, and invite the community to make our solidarity visible, loud and strong. Come out to honor the workers who built this country and the unions that fight every day for fair wages and safe workplaces. For unions, every day is Labor Day!
